Role Overview: We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to lead development of core product features that directly impact millions of users. You'll set architectural direction, drive complex technical initiatives from concept through launch, and build scalable backend systems and polished user experiences. This is a senior technical leadership role where you'll shape engineering standards, mentor the team, and work closely with product, design, and engineering leaders to deliver exceptional experiences at scale. This is a hybrid position (2 days/week onsite) based in Seattle, WA. What You'll Do: Lead end-to-end development of major features across the full stack, from database design through frontend implementation Set architectural direction for backend systems and drive technical strategy across multiple teams Build high-performance APIs that support millions of transactions Design data models and services for complex business workflows Scale systems to handle growing user demand and transaction volume Create seamless user experiences across web platforms Ensure security and compliance in a fintech environment Champion backend architecture, performance, and accessibility best practices Partner with product and design leaders to translate customer needs into elegant, scalable technical solutions Drive technical decision-making and execution on complex, cross-functional initiatives Define and evolve engineering standards, architecture patterns, and tooling Mentor engineers across the organization and help build a strong engineering culture focused on quality and growth Make smart tradeoffs between shipping quickly and building for the long term Improve frontend component systems, backend infrastructure, and testing strategies Optimize system performance and reliability Requirements: 8 years of professional software engineering experience with proven leadership on high-impact projects Strong track record of driving technical direction and architecture across multiple teams Deep backend expertise with Java/Kotlin (SpringBoot), Node.js, or similar server-side frameworks Expert-level experience designing and building REST/GraphQL APIs Proficiency with databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar) Solid frontend capabilities with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript Proven ability to ship complete features end-to-end in production environments Strong product thinking and focus on user experience Experience mentoring engineers and growing technical capabilities across teams Excellent at collaborating across functions and communicating technical decisions to diverse audiences Comfortable in fast-moving environments where priorities shift Nice to Have: Background working with high-traffic consumer applications Experience with large-scale infrastructure and cloud platforms Familiarity with A/B testing, analytics, and data-driven product development Deep knowledge of CI/CD practices, monitoring tools, and production operations Previous work in fintech, PropTech, or marketplace platforms Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary : $230,000 - $270,000 Equity options Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision) for you and dependents HSA/FSA options Flexible PTO policy 12 paid holidays Parental leave and fertility benefits Retirement plan with company match Life and disability insurance Professional development support and mentorship programs Mental health resources and wellness perks Home office stipend and internet reimbursement Transit benefits Regular team events and recognition programs
