your future with us. The Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E)
Flight Test Safety Engineering team is seeking an Flight Test
Aviation Safety Official to join our team in Seattle, WA. The
individual will be involved in primarily commercial and commercial
derivative test programs. However, the team may also support
military, vertical lift, and unmanned aircraft flight test to
perform operational and safety engineering tasks. The individual
must have a strong understanding of flight test, aircraft
operations, risk identification, and mitigation. This person should
be able to provide independent oversight to programs to validate
their risk assessment and mitigating actions. In addition, this
person must be able to investigate non-normal incidents and
determine if corrective actions are required to immediately contain
threat and further mitigate risk. This individual will be joining a
team of safety engineers and Aviation Safety Officers who
collaborate in a very dynamic, fast-paced development, and test
environment to manage operational safety risk and promote mishap

experience levels including; Lead and Senior Flight Test Aviation
Safety Officials (job code: 6PAV (6P4)) Position Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a cross section of program disciplines in a
very dynamic, fast-paced development and test environment to
promote mishap prevention - Develop and manage safety requirements
in a collaborative environment early in the design process through
the life-cycle of the product/program, with specific emphasis on
test operations - Perform critical safety engineering activities to
support ground and flight test/launch preparation and operations,
to include support the development of Flight Test Plans (FTPs),
Test Hazard Analyses (THAs) and mitigation plans, development of
test procedures, and active participation in ground / flight test
mission assurance readiness reviews (FTMARRs) - Perform Safety Risk
Management (SRM) activities in a highly dynamic operational/test
environment through support of and/or leading Safety Action Groups
(SAGs) activity - Provide Safety Assurance (SA) function through
interface with Safety data analysts and Quality Assurance (QA) and
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) counterparts - Provide flight
and ground test operations safety support during testing, to
include active participation in pretest briefs/debriefs, after
action reviews, and develop pre-mishap plans and notification
procedures - Evaluate customer/operational needs and requirements
specifications to develop safety requirements, constraints, and
operating limits - Review engineering design specifications, test
operations, change proposals, deficiency reports, and
deviation/waiver requests for potential flight test safety impacts
- Conduct periodic safety survey audits and assessments - Leads and
participates in incident investigations and root cause/corrective
action analyses - Leads and facilitates aircraft impound
investigations - Interface with customer and program subject matter
experts - Prepare presentations, analyses, and reports for
government/customer safety boards, program design reviews, and
test/mission readiness reviews - Deliver oral and written
presentations to peers, program management, senior leadership,
customer, and regulatory agencies This position is expected to be
100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite
at one of the listed location options. Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience): - This position must meet U.S. export
control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control
compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.
§120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S.
National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee - 3 years
of experience in hazardous identification, risk assessments, and
mitigation plans - 3 years experience with the principles of flight
test OR experience directly supporting flight test operations - 5
years relevant technical experience in a combination of aviation
safety, systems safety analysis, safety management system, ground
test, flight test, aviation operations or test hazard analysis in a
commercial and/or military environment - Able and willing to travel
up to 25% of the time domestically Preferred Qualifications
(Desired Skills/Experience): - Level 5: 10 or more years’ related
work experience or an equivalent combination of education and
experience - 7 years experience in flight and/or ground test -
Prior Test Conductor (TC) or Test Director (TD) experience - Prior
Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) or Aviation Safety Investigator (ASI)
experience - Experience in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint) - Experience in Safety Management Systems training and
experience (ICAO Annex 19, FAA 14 CFR Part 5, AC 120-92D (Safety
Management Systems for Aviation Service Providers) and/or AC 21-58A
(Safety Management Systems for Part 21 Type and Production
Certificate Holders)) - Experience with various aircraft systems,
flight test operations, test safety, aviation safety programs, test
hazard analysis, aviation safety investigations, aviation mishap
investigations - Experienced in communicating and working within a
team environment with emphasis on first pass quality - Experience
in accident and incident investigations and root cause corrective
action training - Experience system safety engineering
(MIL-STD-882, ARP4761 and DO178B/254) - Experience with manned
aircraft, flying test bed, and weapons systems - Possess current
pilot certificate or ability to obtain an FAA Part 107 certificate

$135,150 - $182,850 Summary Pay Range for Senior level (Level 5):
