Job Description:
CalPortland, a leader in the construction material sector with
over 130 years of expertise, is seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to
join our automotive team. Operating within the bustling automotive
division, this role is pivotal in maintaining the reliability and
performance of our extensive fleet of vehicles and heavy machinery.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic
environment that integrates sustainable practices with innovative
technological solutions. Perform routine and preventative
maintenance on a range of vehicles including cement trucks, heavy
machinery, and service vehicles. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair
mechanical issues, electrical systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic
components. Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean and
organized work environment. Record and maintain accurate work logs
and repair records. Collaborate with the parts department to manage
inventory and ensure availability of necessary parts. Conduct road
tests and equipment tests after repairs to ensure sound
functioning. Assist in maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all
applicable industry standards and regulations. Strong understanding
of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for
troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret service and parts
manuals. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Medical Insurance
Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance ASE Certification
(Automotive Service Excellence) is highly desired. Valid driver’s
license with a clean driving record; CDL (Commercial Driver’s
License) is a plus.
